Ogle Court System & Jurisdictions

Ogle County is part of the 15th Judicial Circuit of Illinois. All cases are heard by the Circuit Court, the only court of general jurisdiction at the county level. There are no separate magistrate or district courts; instead, the Circuit Court is divided into divisions by case type.

  • Criminal Division — felonies, misdemeanors, traffic violations (DUI, speeding, etc.).
  • Civil Division — claims of any amount, including small claims cases up to $10,000.
  • Family Division — divorces, child custody, alimony, protection orders.
  • Probate Division — wills, estate management, adult guardianship.
  • Traffic and Administrative Cases — fines, municipal ordinance violations.

All these cases are physically heard at the Ogle County Judicial Center, located in the city of Oregon. Appeals from the Circuit Court are directed to the Second District Appellate Court in Elgin.

How to Get a Copy of a Ogle Court Document

Copies of court documents are issued by the Ogle County Circuit Clerk's office. There are two types of copies:

  • Uncertified copy — suitable for review, does not have the legal force of the original.
  • Certified copy — contains the seal and signature of the clerk, accepted by other institutions as an official document.

Ways to obtain:

  1. In person. Visit the Circuit Clerk's office in the Judicial Center. Bring identification and know the case number or the full name of the party.
  2. By mail. Send a written request specifying the case number, document type, and a check or money order for the appropriate amount. Mailing address for requests:
